Product wasn’t brand new
For starters, the box wasn’t in excellent condition. It was just the helmet in the fabric bag.Brand new helmets come with a cardboard spacer to secure the helmet, instructions or manual, and accessories. Also, it had a dent with a visible paint scratch.I liked the helmet, but I won’t not risk using a dented helmet. I order a BRAND NEW helmet. Also, the refund is taking a Month to be processed.

Love the helmet
Absolutely love this helmet! Added the sena system and it is phenomenal! Together, these will be my go to helmet for years to come!Cheek pads are a little too thick for me, but will likely break-in over time. That is the only downside. I ride in Arizona, and the vent is the best I have had in a full face yet.

Great helmet – some quality control issues
I had my reservations on paying considerably more money for this helmet after having used the inexpensive helmets. They are both DOT approved after all, have internal sun visor, and fit well. Eventually, I broke down and bought this.Compared to the inexpensive one, this is lighter, but more importantly, has noticeably less wind noise when riding. The vents are actually functional. The negatives:1. Bluetooth – is an add-on and is expensive. Must use the Sena model which is very overpriced2. This may have been just bad luck, but about a month after I got it, one day while riding on a highway, the clear visor got pulled out of the left side by itself, and before I could pull over, the right side ripped open (wind shear) and I lost the visor and pin lock. To be clear, I was not riding with visor open, and had never detached the visor.I took it to cyclegear and they saw a small plastic piece in the hinge area – so it was likely a defective visor. Visor itself is about $50 and shoei will not cover it under warranty because the visor was broken up on the highway. Ugh.For such an expensive helmet, this was unexpected quality

Very good brand and product!
I’ve always worn Shoei helmets and have been saved a couple times by them. Great fit and overall design. While I do like the speed and convenience of the ratchet strap closure, I agree with other reviewers that it is not terribly comfortable. Really like the integrated sun visor and pinlock shield.

I bought primarily for the reviews of reduced noise.
I like the fact that it is a more quiet helmet than I’ve had previously. I like the adjustable main screen, it stays in one place and doesn’t blow back. I like the longer sun screen in the helmet. I HATE the ratchet chin strap, there is very little padding between neck and strap and I get metal on neck, HATE IT. It would be awesome there were grooves or a channel inside for getting eyeglasses on. It’s a pain to put them on. Overall a nice helmet (except for chin strap) but I believe it’s overpriced.

My head is worth every penny
Great helmet, I’ve used Shoei helmets for more than 20 years and this has been a great new helmet. I’ve got about 3500 miles wearing it in rain and sun. It’s a comfortable, aerodynamic, and light weight helmet. I have the Sena SRL-2 Bluetooth speakers and mic set – which is a real nice addition for road music, phone calls and rider-to-rider communication. Very satisfied.

Good but not great
The cushion inserts are easily dislodged. The vents provide some cooling however I was expecting more breeze on the nugget here in the Florida heat. Very secure fit and solid feel to it. The sun visor is great.

Nice dome piece. Bad boxing.
Love the helmet. Very comfortable and snug fits well for my head. Some wind breach by ears but not irritating, also the backflow from back passive vents does exist but it’s not terrible. Chin ratchet strap digs into my neck a little bit but I’m sure things will fit better once fully broken in. The biggest issue for me was the bag that holds all of the accessories in the box was ripped open leaving parts scattered and a leaking bottle of silicone staining my sheets and the helmet sock. I understand things happen when shipping from afar but the bag looked like it was cut? Regardless no complaints about the actual dome piece itself…great lid for the price I paid for it.

Faulty Vent
This helmet looks great and fit me perfectly, however it was still cold weather time when I got it and even with the vent closed, it leaked and I had a continuous, annoying cold spot on the top of my head. The rear vent is passive, not active, so you cannot close it. It is designed to create a suction thereby drawing air in through the top vent. Apparently, even when the top vent is closed, it’s not a perfect seal and air still entered. I returned the helmet because of this. Others have complained of the same problem. Why Shoei went cheap on these vents is beyond me.

It’s a shoei. They’re not cheap but that’s because they work. No fatigue. Minimal road noise and integrated Sena makes this helmet great. I bought a few sub par helmets in my day to save a buck. Should have just pulled the trigger long ago

Nice helmet but impossible to use due to size
My head is exactly between 57 cm and 58 cm so perfectly in the range for medium. I received it and it’s extremely compressing my jaws on both sides, the strap is also at the maximum length and almost strangling my throat. I’m not sure to understand the fitting. I tried a large different Shoei at the store and it was too large. Might need to change brand.

I love it. But it’s little heavy. 5 star for as it ventilation (where you needed). 5 star for comfort especially if you’re wearing glasses.Quiet gets four star.Weight gets three star. 1.8 kg. (With Sena S4 mounted with sticky tape.). Overall love it.

Great Brain Bucket!
This is a great helmet, especially for those who like to be connected when riding. I have had sun shields in the past from other mfgs but none are as smooth operating as this one.The Sena Srl2 slips neatly into the GT-Air 2.The only downside I’ve found is not having a D Ring to use for locking the helmet to the bike.Ride On My Friends!

One of the best helmets I ever put on my head.
These helmets are worth every penny when it comes to comfort. A little hard to put on at first but once your ears clear you find soft padding all around your head. Nice feeling snug but not to tight. I hade to send one back because it was to small but no problems from AMAZON. love it.

Well worth the buy!
I was curious if this helmet was worth the money…it is! In comparison to my $150 helmet it’s very quiet! Wind noise is cut way down. Also the vents on this helmet are fantastic. You can feel the wind hit the top of your head when open. Pin lock is also a great touch. I can’t fog this thing to save my life. Great buy!

Not as good as the original GT-Air, but not bad.
First and foremost, the GT-Air is about staying cool in the summer; unfortunately, they have reduced the airflow in this new model, a lot. In fact, even on the freeway you can’t feel if the top vent is open, or not; except eventually your head will either heat up, or not. So it does keep your head cool on the freeway, but moving slow it just doesn’t have much airflow compared to the original. Secondly, it only supports the installation of one model of Bluetooth communicator, and that model sucks. Installing any other Bluetooth model is made much worse because there is no good place to put it, due to the model specific mount being in the way. This was VERY short sighted of them. Otherwise, fit is good for me, and wind noise is minimal. Really wish I kept my old original model, or bought something else this time.

Sena SLR2 is terrible, bad, awful, the worst. Great helmet tho
First the pros. Exteremly well made and comfortable helemt, no hot spots for intermediate oval shaped heads. Fit and finish is what you would expect in such a high price helmet. The internal visor is a godsend, I no longer have to check weather and decided which visor to snap on each morning before heading out. Pinlock works great, no fogging. Coming from a scorpion r420, I think the noise is about the same, but who cares you should wear ear plugs no matter what, wind levels above 60 mph in any helemt is going to cause serious earing damage after a short time… The airflow is great, i can feel lots of air around my head and can turn it off by adjusting the vents. Very pleased with the helemt and shoei brand. Now the con- Sena. This company is terrible, there speakers suck and if you want to listen to music using the slr2 good luck unless you standing still and like to pretend you are listening to music from a Coke can. Absolutely garbage, Shoei please dump Sena as your bluetooth comms provider or at least demand they update the SLR2 driver and speakers. My 30k which would only work after purchasing the “HD speakers” is not supposed to mount to this but after trialing the SLR2 and finding it completely useless for music, communicating or navigation. I decided to take my old 30k and give it new life, on it went fairly easily and in a good position, defintley not as sleek as the SLR2 but I can hear music and navigation at high speeds(only with HD speakers). I almost didn’t buy this helmet because it had been tainted by Sena but shoei quality makes up for there dumb decision in partnering with Sena. Hopefully this helemet will last me at least 5 years and by that time Cardo will have something that integrates into a shoei helemt, if its still sena I will be finding another helemt cause the 30k tho better with hd speakers, is still terrible and I will never buy another product from them. Shoei do better, develop your own comms system or use cardo, Sena is doing everything they can to not evolve there product but still take over market share.

Great helmet, would recommend
I purchased the Shoei GT AirII in part to a video review showing this helmet had one of the best wind noise isolation characteristics done using a dB meter. I also like that later I can install a bluetooth communication system (SENA SRL Mesh) into the helmet. After riding around for a couple months, I can confirm the helmet does an exceptional job at keeping wind noise to a minimum at highway speeds (70MPH). It has good ventilation. I wear hard contact lenses and need to keep air from blowing directly into my eyes, drying them out, and this helmet does just that. The wind shield also optically corrects for the curvature of the shield giving you a very good view as if the shield wasn’t there. I was quiet impressed with this feature; never experienced it before and now that I have, it’s a must on any future helmets. My only CON is the flip down sun visor doesn’t work as well as sunglasses do in when riding into morning sunrises or evening sunsets. The sun visor works well when the sun is higher in the sky, no problem. I just throw on some sunglasses for situations where more direct sun in the face is the case.I should also mention I’m happy with the look of the helmet and its ability to be aerodynamic. I can easily turn my head to look around while at highway speeds and not feel like a bubble head or get whip lash.Last, but not least, I understand that shoei will provide different foam padding to adjust the fitment. Since I bought here, on amazon, this wasn’t an option for me but my understanding is if you go to a brick and mortar shop that is a shoei distributor that they can fine tune fitment. I found the fitment perfect for me.

Really comfortable helmet. Size matches other helmets I’ve had. The sun shield works great. I was worried it would hit my glasses, but not even close. Does a good job of sound dampening. I’ve had 3 other helmets and this one is the best by far.

Best helmet I’ve owned.
This is a great helmet. It’s very snug around the cheeks but I think once those pads break in it’ll be perfect. Other than that it’s a great fit around the head. I’d say it’s consistent with my Medium sized Bell helmets. The visor action is great and easy to operate and the sunshield is a key feature and my reason for purchasing a new helmet. I have no interest in Bluetooth communicators at this moment in time but I’m happy that if I decide to get one in the future I won’t have to get yet another helmet as this is ready for it. The racket chin strap is a nice feature too.

Good helmet. A little heavy
SHOEI quality! A bit heavy in the front, so it can pull on your chin a bit. Visor is seamless and the height adjustment is a cool feature. I will say if you have a different comms device then the one it’s made for, it can a little tricky to get the placement to work with. Matte gray finish is cool, but marks easily.

No regerts
This helmet shines in all areas. It’s much lighter than my previous full face helmet, while at the same time being much safer. It well exceeds the US DOT rating, as well as exceeding the much stricter European standards. The aerodynamics are excellent. It glides though the air much slicker than my previous helmet, meaning less vibration and noise. The wind buffeting my head when following both autos and semis is so minimal it was only noticeable because I was looking for it. It also doesn’t pull or get louder when turning to look over your shoulder. The outer visor is crystal clear with no distortion, and adjusts through the various settings with fluid, but firm and reassuring clicks. The included pinlock insert is a great addition, as it saved me from having to buy it separately. The inner tinted visor is also clear of any visual distortions, and operates with a smooth action on the slider, and locks in position.Along with the pinlock insert, it also includes the removable chin curtain the preforms its role with no complaints. The airflow is nice. The vents are very easy to find and operate with gloves and air flows nicely around the helmet when opened. The only issue I’ve noticed personally is that with the chin curtain installed, there is minimal airflow, and even with the outer visor up, my tinted inner one fogged quickly. Can easily be fixed by applying an anti-fog coating to it yourself, or simply sliding it up when stopped.Another driving feature for me was being ready to accept the SENA SLR2 comms. It installed easily with the most effort coming from reinstalling the cheek pads. It doesn’t change the aerodynamic profile of the helmet, meaning no whistling or vibrations at speed which can increase noise inside the helmet, or potential weak points in an accident.I should also mention it’s the most comfortable full face helmet I’ve worn. The pads are soft yet firm enough to ensure a snug fit. They also allow for good airflow within. There are perfectly suitable more budget friendly helmets to choose from, but as someone coming from one of those I’d recommend splurging for this. It’s better in every way over my last one, and a purchase you won’t regret. This helmet has been out for a few years and has many reviews online to read/watch. I did quite a bit myself before sending the extra for this one. It beat out most other helmets in many areas (some others did have a higher “score” in specific areas), and was always at the top when it came to overall “scores”.

Did not regret this purchase.
I purchased this as a 47-year-old motorcycle rider. I was originaly concerned as I do not like full face helmets . Let’s just say after some convincing from my wife I purchased this full face and after a couple hundred mile ride, I was not disappointed as it was snug yet fit. I would recommend this for any avid or weekend rider.

Can’t Go Wrong Buying a Shoei
Love shoei helmets, they’re very comfortable, reduce drag, and most importantly will keep your meat mech processing unit as safe as your riding style allows. The internal visor is an amazing quality of life feature and is so much better than constantly having to switch between visors. The only flaw that I have is I really don’t like the ratchet style chin strap and I can’t find anything resembling a conversion kit to switch it to a traditional D-ring chin strap.Overall amazing helmet from Shoei.

Premium helmet at a premium price.
Some context: I ride a cruiser, and never really go any faster than the flow of traffic. I don’t ride with a windshield.I just got back into riding again after laying off it for a few years. I’d been looking for a good full-face helmet for some time. Something light, well-made, comfortable, quiet, well-ventilated (if need be), with an internal sunshield, and with decent anti-fog capability. My previous helmets, when I used to ride both a cruiser and a standard, were a cheap BILT number and a no-name half-helmet.The BILT was incredibly noisy at any speed above “crawl”, never felt like it fit right, and fogged no matter what I did unless I opened the face shield completely. It also had a habit of making my head whip back and forth in the wind at highway speeds. The half-helmet was…well…a half-helmet. Light, but that’s about it. It most certainly wasn’t going to stop bugs from hitting my face, or rain (which stings at highway speeds), and it absolutely wouldn’t help me in a crash unless I only hit the top of my head. Considering the IIHS data showing the vast majority of reported motorcycle accidents include a strike to the chin/jaw areas, that was an issue for me.After some research, I got the GT Air II. It feels light on long rides, doesn’t get pushed around by the oncoming wind, feels quiet-ish, has a few options to handle fog, is well-ventilated, and is pretty comfy. Some notes: Some helmet brands are better for certain head shapes, but I don’t know the shape of my head. The size chart told me I needed a Large, so I got a Large. Unfortunately, I needed to also buy some 31mm cheek pads to replace the fatter ones in the helmet. If you buy this from a motorcycle store, you’re likely given the option to replace the cheek pads at purchase at no additional cost to you. This can save you $55-$60.- All the vents are easy to open with one hand.- The internal sunshield is easy to manipulate with one hand. It’s not on a spring-loaded latch, so it won’t wear out so quickly.- The face shield can be raised only with the left hand, as the tab is on the left side of the bottom of the shield.- The face shield has a “cracked open” setting for low-speed fog mitigation. It works. The ventilation elsewhere helps at higher speeds.- I never bought the optional internal comms, so I can’t tell you if they’re worth it.- I’ve read that Shoei didn’t submit the helmet for SNELL crash rating simply because it’s difficult to obtain a SNELL rating with an internal sunshield. Not impossible, but difficult. The comparable RF 1200, also from Shoei but without an internal sunshield or an optional integrated comms package, has a SNELL certification.- This has a ratchet strap rather than a classic double-D-ring. Unlike the original GT Air, this ratchet strap was moved further forward to avoid sitting against the neck. I can attest that this does help, but it still feels a bit more restrictive against the neck.- The field of vision is very, very good for a cruiser. That said, if you’re riding a sportbike in the tuck position, you might want the RF1200 instead, as it provides marginally better field of vision vertically.- I haven’t had to install the pinlock face shield insert yet, but it does come with one, which is supposed to help with fog.Overall, I like this helmet. I wish it cost less, but at least it was cheaper than MSRP. Even so, I would recommend trying it on at a store to make sure it fits your head shape. I recommend it for cruising and standards, but sportbike riders would likely want something tailored to that style of riding.Good luck!

Great Airflow, high quality materials
This is the best flowing helmet i’ve used so far. The noise levels are pretty low, even with the vents open. The pop-down sun visor is very handy, and this is a glasses-friendly helmet. My only gripe with the design is the racheting strap. it’s great for putting on and taking off the helmet, but i’d prever the double D ring setup so i can lock it to my bike.

Great helmet – not the best chinstrap
The 4 stars rather than 5 here have to do with the too-tight strap mechanism. There is nothing wrong with a double D strap, and I’ve used them all my riding life, about 60 years. This one is a bit too restricting, hitting my adams apple as others have noted. I’ll probably have to modify it somehow, and with a helmet costing over six hundred bucks, I shouldn’t have to do that. It is quiet, very well made and comfy, except for this one glitch.

Very aerodynamic
Great helmet very aerodynamic you can turn your head at 75 mph and think your in your car. It’s amazing how the air slips around the helmet. Vents very well not as good as my Arai xd4 but it’s a different type of helmet. This helmet is quieter than my xd4. I really like the sunshade built in and the eye glass cuts on the sides. No need to swap shields when the sun goes down just flip the tented shield up and your good to go.

Nice build in sun visor, but lacks elsewhere
I ordered the Shoei GT-Air 2 for it’s comfort features. I like the built in sun visor, chin curtain, and included pin-lock. I switched from riding sportbikes with a Shoei X-11 helmet, to a sport cruiser and a GT-Air 2. The GT-Air 2 feels comfortable to me when I’m riding more upright, as opposed to before when I rode leaning forward with the helmet tilted and tucked on a sportbike. Although I wear earplugs when I ride, the helmet seems more quiet compared to my previous X-11.I do have a few gripes about it. When stopped, I find the ventilation to be lacking, and would have to crack open the visor to get a decent amount of fresh air. The chin strap is a ratchet design, which makes for easy adjustment and removal, but will prevent you from locking the helmet to the bike if you’re used to securing it with the D-rings. Bluetooth communication system is limited to the Sena SRL 2, which does not have great reviews. There are others that were able to make other comm systems fit, but along with that came other annoyances.

Shoei me the money lid
This is the best helmet I’ve ever put on my dome. I own a Bell and 2 LS2s one of them a Carbon. Although those are good helmets and the LS2 value for the product is excellent they don’t match the fit and finish quality of this SHOEI GT A II. It’s similar when I compare my Triumph Bonneville T120 to other motorcycles, the quality, fit and finish is outstanding. My goal is to reduce further ear damage, which is a problem with cheaper helmets. I wear earplugs and with the additional protection of this GT Air 2 material layering and premium interior it helps reduce wind noise, buffeting and adds amazing comfort. Like my Bonnie, you get what you pay for.
